What would you say about 2020? For many of us, this year has been a year of awakening. A year where we count our blessings, that we are doing OK, compared to the millions of people suffering from this long-lasting Covid-19 pandemic.

The people of Mauritius are no exception in this suffering. With an economy that is heavily dependent on tourism, this pandemic is having a devastating ripple effect, as so many lines of work like taxi drivers, food peddlers, waiters, hotel maids are daisy-chained to the tourism industry.

It is a dire situation that has prompted us, the Mauritian Diaspora to lend a helping hand to our fellow islanders. Therefore in the spirit of Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and the hope of a better new year, we are raising money to provide school bags along with school supplies to primary school students in Mauritius.

Each bag along with school supplies costs 300 MUR, and with your generous contribution, we hope to raise 60,000 MUR and deliver a wonderful Christmas gift to 200 Mauritian kids that are facing hardship.

This is also a wonderful way for the Mauritian Diaspora to give back to our beloved country and invest in its future generation.  A 10 $ or 10€ or 10£ will go a long way to make a child happy and is an investment in a child’s future.
