Why do we need YOUR help?
We are planning to work on the restoration project.
For our long term visions to realise, we will need YOUR help!
Our Country is suffering, our ecosystem is dying. We need YOUR help to save our Island. We are all in this, together. Our marine life is what represents us.
We believe in the long term restoration using the appropriate logistics and sciences. We are fully aware that the state of the ocean won’t get back to its normal self. If not us, our kids shall get back the sea the way it was meant to be.
Where do the funds go ?
This crowdfund is mainly to finance all future expenses linked to:
- Long term clean-up of the oil spill after the protocols have been set up: Purchasing of PPE and other materials to be given to our volunteers.
- Long term restoration: fauna and flora restoration to be done by professional divers, Marine Biology graduates and other experts from the networking of Sov Lanatir.
- To fund scientific research, for our long term restoration project to implement the same in a new Oil Contingency Plan; a policy that will be made from the civil society (namely NGOs). All actions and findings will be documented.
- To cover the expenses of proposing a new policy to the Government of Mauritius, if ever there is another oil spill.
Who is Sov Lanatir?
We are Sov Lanatir, a group of youngsters that amalgamates executives within 18 to 27 years old and other members across the Island, of all ages. Sov Lanatir addresses matters regarding Climate Change and Climate Justice. In addition, we are a community that is in the process of registration.
We believe that we’ll be the ones who’ll have to protect the Sea today and tomorrow. So, it’s our duty to act.
Since the beginning of the MV Wakashio oil spill crisis, Sov Lanatir has worked to mobilise volunteers to fight against the disaster in unity and solidarity alongside many other NGOs, in namely 3 ways :
- On field - We directed volunteers and we were amongst the frontliners. We came up with primary response proposals such as use of bagasse. We also assisted volunteers in the making of mechanical barriers to contain the oil spill (booms). In addition, we have also contributed in the collection of hair that was organised throughout the island for the making of booms as well.
- Logistically - by organising transport/equipment/food/PPE donations; building up logistics needed to mobilise volunteers nation-wide; channeling information to the public in full transparency, respecting existing protocols.
- Scientifically - by doing research on the primary response solution - Use of raw sugarcane bagasse in oil contingency.
Since the creation of Sov Lanatir, the following activities were organised:
- Currently participating in a reforestation program: Our ultimate goal is to plant 1Million trees before 2030. We recently volunteered and planted 257 endemic trees at Ebody Forest Reserve with the help of experts.
- We organised a big clean up at the University of Mauritius and on beaches around the Island.
- We hosted multiple Eco-friendly hikes, trekking and outdoor sports to perform clean ups on mountains, in forests and to emphasise our connection with Nature.
-We collaborated with another organisation on a Seed Library Project to build a Seed Library Box, whereby citizens could exchange Seeds freely.
- We coordinated volunteering events to learn and connect with animals. Events such as adoption of stray dogs, volunteering in zoos and development of animal sanctuaries.
- We organise Spiritual events to connect ourselves more with Nature and understand its divinity to attain inner peace.
- Through Art we create posters, drawings, to deliver powerful messages. During the Covid-19 confinment/quarantined for example, we asked everyone on Facebook and Instagram to share their emotions about the virus through Art.
- During cultural events, we promote and encourage everyone to use recycled materials, such as newspaper to wrap gifts or even leafs.
- We tackled the environmental problem at a legislation level in the country.
- Promoting sustainable development according to Science Technology Engineering Mathematics.

Ce crowdfund est principalement pour financer toutes les dépenses liées à:
- La restauration à long terme de notre écosystème après les protocoles établis : achat d’EPI et d'équipements pour les volontaires.
- La restauration de la faune et la flore par les plongeurs professionnel licenciés, les biologistes marins et d’autres experts en contact avec Sov Lanatir.
- Pour financer la recherche scientifique, pour notre projet de restauration à long terme de mettre en place un nouveau plan de contingence; une politique qui sera mise en oeuvre par les ONG. Toutes les actions et les découvertes seront documentées.
- Pour couvrir les frais de proposition d'une nouvelle politique par le gouvernement de l'île Maurice, s'il y a un autre déversement d'hydrocarbures.
- Pour acheter les équipements et matériaux disponibles à Maurice, si jamais une autre catastrophe écologique se produit.

Sov Lanatir est une communauté environnementale qui regroupe des membres exécutifs agés de 18 à 27 ans et des membres volontaires à travers l'île, de tout âge, afin de traiter les problèmes liés aux changements et à la justice climatiques.
Nous sommes convaincus que nous serons ceux qui auront à protéger la mer d’aujourd’hui et de demain. Nous agissons car c’est notre devoir.
Dès le début de la marée noire causée par le MV Wakashio, Sov Lanatir, avec l’appui de nombreuses ONG, a mobilisé des volontaires pour lutter contre cette crise écologique. Notre organisation a ainsi aidé de 3 manières:
- Sur le terrain - nous étions en première ligne grâce et avons dirigé les volontaires. Nous avons proposé une solution principale qui est l’utilisation de la bagasse. Nous avons aidé les volontaires dans la fabrication des barrages mécaniques afin de contenir l’huile.
- Sur le plan logistique - nous avons organisé le transport, les donations d’équipements et de nourriture en mobilisant les bénévoles à travers l'île ainsi qu’en diffusant les informations vers le public.
- Sur le plan scientifique - en faisant des recherches sur la meilleure solution de maintenir, conserver et restaurer l'écosystème de nos lagons grâce à la matière première de la canne à sucre.
