Raising Funds for Sterilisation Campaigns- CrowdFunding
Raising Funds for Sterilisation Campaigns
The Challenge 2.0: Completing a 50km trail race (Dodo Trail) on 12th July 2025
The Cause (Remains the same): Sterilisation campaigns targeting stray dogs and cats as well as pets of low-income families
The Background: My name is Isabelle Joseph and I am a small-animal veterinarian working in collaboration with Community Sterilisation Campaign (CSC) in Mauritius. CSC is an organisation run entirely by volunteers with the sole purpose of dealing with the increasing overpopulation of stray animals on the island. They organise free sterilisations in communities that need it the most. Many villages cannot afford to sterilise their pets or have the means of transport to go to veterinary clinics. This results in numerous dogs and cats and their litters being abandoned in sugar-cane fields, beaches and parking lots. By using local village halls and bringing veterinary teams to the community, they are not only sterilising the stray population and pets of low-income communities, but also educating people in animal welfare.
Please note: CSC rely solely on donations for funding.
I have been working with this amazing organisation for a few years now and we share the same opinion on the way forward in tackling the overpopulation of dogs and preventing animal cruelty. Our goals are 100% in alignment and I want to help them help more animals in need - and you can help us!
I have previously raised funds for CSC by running a full marathon (42.2km) in Warsaw, Poland in September 2023 and that was a huge challenge for me. 18 months later, I have set my sights on the 50km Dodo Trail in Mauritius, one of the toughest trail routes with a start time of 5am, an elevation gain of 3500m. My aim is to complete this trail as safely as I possibly can and I am hoping to do that in around 12 hours.
Donations of any amount are very welcome, and you can follow CSC's amazing work via their Facebook page. I have also set up a Facebook page "Vet on the Run" so you can also track what I get up to - steri campaigns, training and behind the scenes!
MY challenge has been launched - YOUR challenge is to keep me motivated through your messages and donations! Together, let's make this bigger and better than the previous one!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart <3
