If you are kind, and i know you are ... Once upon a time , not so long ago - a year to be truth, i moved back for the second time to Mauritius, to be with those i love. First few months reminded me of how i love this green island, colorful sunday markets, sound of the wind in the endless sugar cane fields, multicultural comunity and slow but nice life. However with time i also recalled what hurt me first time i came here , 7 years ago - a number of abandonedg dogs, strays with sadness and hunger in eyes and lack of legislation allowin this to happen. Having returnmed after 7 years i saw how much progress Mauritius has done and how quality of life has improved for everybody - malls all around, houses growing as mushrooms, foreign brands moving in, people travelling . It has improved for all, except for dogs - their life seem to have gone backwards. Those who are lucky to have owners (as there are many dog lovers too) have no opportunity to socialise and accompany their "human parents" as banned all around. Yet dogs are allowed to room around , be dumpled, not be sterilised, and cruelty toeard them is not punished . There are i learned some human "angels" (literally so) that invest thier heart, time, and money into trying to save dogs that have been abandoned, dumped, abused, hungry , people that quote so high on my intergrity ranking. Roshan Balbogin trying to feed all the strays in Flacq region (and needs 20000 aprox per month ), Pretty Sachi with over 200 dogs (having heart too soft to say no to any abandoned animal), Sameer Golam, Elo La  and others. Day in , day out, they are there , being kind humans.  So after many nights of thinking what i can or can not do as a small single person for Roshan and others, i decided i can appeal to what we all have - your kindness , your compassion. No matter where you are from, no matter which religion - all see these 2 values as highest level of being human. Thus i thank you in advance to help me raise funds for them which i will distribute over october - december period to each, depending on how many dogs they take care off.  Not a single penny is for me, but all of it will go to Roshan and others. My few bags of rice (275 Rs) and dog foods (300-800Rs) to each does not change much, but if all of you jump in, it allows them to have enough food to feed and medicate them, instead of begging people to help. It can be 1 USD or 10 RD it can be 10USD , 100 RS , whataver you think you can afford in these odd times, times that are meant to teach us compassion. A valaue of a drink in the bar, of take away meal, of a box of cigarette, a box of cookies....so little for us that we will not even notice - yet on larger scale if done by many , it will become and mean so much to them. And so much more for abandones dogs - cause they will have food in a tummy, and perhaps even a loving human next to them. With gratitude to all of you - help me being kind towards Mauritius animal rescuers (all fund sharing will be transparent and updated )

I am a dog lover too. It breaks my heart to see sad and unhealthy street dogs and wished I could rescue them all too. If I were there I’d be gladly joining you physically for your effort. This is the smallest I could contribute being faraway but hope it helps even a little bit. Congratulations and well done Barbie for this amazing initiative and effort. Best of luck with this important endeavour. I’m always beside you. Lots of love, Akino
