What are we doing?

The Lighthouse Solidarity Fund has been established to provide short-term assistance to families currently enrolled at Lighthouse who suffer loss of substantive income or jobs due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic

Background

Understanding the high priority our families place on education, our desire is that no child be withdrawn from school due to a temporary inability to pay. Since its inception, Lighthouse has supported not only financial need-based scholarships but helped many families who find themselves in short-term difficulty. The total value of our support for scholarships this year is nearly MUR 4 million. Over the coming weeks and months we will be assessing the schools ability to maintain these while still supporting our staff and potentially helping others. In the meantime, we wish to both acknowledge this reality and provide an outlet for Lighthouse families and friends who want to support others and their own school's viability.

How it works

Families wishing to apply must show evidence of loss of substantive income or job(s).

Credits will be applied on an equitable basis to qualifying families according to the monthly amount of donations received in the Fund.

All Solidarity funds will be applied directly to Lighthouse school fees only.

Donors will receive an impact report.
