Description

Our Mauritian birds need your help!

What little is left of Mauritius’ native forests are highly degraded and large trees with cavities, used by the endemic Echo Parakeet and Mauritius Kestrel, are few and far between. Fortunately these birds have adapted to use artificial nest boxes to lay their eggs and rear their young. Ebony Forest needs your help to fund 8 nest boxes for Echo Parakeet and 5 boxes for Mauritius Kestrel, which will be placed at Vallée de L’Est on the south-east coast of Mauritius. Vallée de L’Est provides ideal Kestrel and Echo Parakeet habitat with high quality native forest.

By providing nest boxes, our goal is to help the birds increase their breeding success and therefore their numbers in the wild. We just need your help!

An Echo Parakeet boxes costs Rs 3,750 each and a Mauritius Kestrel box Rs 3,000 each to fabricate and install. We need to raise Rs45,000 in total.

Together we can make Mauritius a paradise island for our wildlife.

Thank you
